Generation Z (born between 1996 and 2010) is at the start of its professional career. Their representatives are innovative, self-confident, digital and creative - and sometimes also demanding. How can employers attract them as employees, fulfil their expectations and make working together a pleasant experience? And how can we as consultants, coaches and trainers provide targeted support for this group? Do the existing processes and programmes meet their expectations or needs? Or is there a need for adaptation?
At Forum 2023, we explored these questions in presentations, practical workshops and a panel discussion. Representatives of Generation Z had their say, as did older generations. Digitalisation, demands on work and a shift in the prioritisation of work and leisure are among the most important changes. However, the discussions showed that Generation Z is just as motivated as previous generations!
János Bucher, Head of Finance at Neoviso and himself a "GenZ-er", showed how his generation has grown up and travelled digitally and what topics are on their minds.
NEOVISO advises companies on how to deal with Generation Z in the areas of marketing, HR, leadership, storytelling and much more.
Debora Moos, Employer Communications Specialist at Baloise, reported on how Baloise has adapted its recruitment processes to cater for young adults.
Manuela Marcelino Alfredo and Geraldine Paech from Hays (Schweiz) AG told us which points are important when managing and supporting GenZ. GenZ want motivated superiors at work, opportunities for self-realisation and prompt feedback on their work. It is also important that leisure time is not neglected alongside work, i.e. a good work-life integration.
What guidance does GenZ need?
How do you communicate with them?
What are the challenges in counselling or support?
Stefanie Schöchle, Qualified social pedagogue and head of the Bachgraben youth centre, Hannes BaerManaging Director inTeam and Diana Abegglen, student counsellor at the University of Basel, reported on their work with GenZ in practical workshops.
Prejudices and similarities were discussed - is Generation Z really so different or do they have more in common with previous generations than we thought?
It turned out that it is important to connect the generations with each other and to utilise and combine their respective strengths in a meaningful way.
